Daylilies seem most appropriate on this, the Longest Day...
The sun's out [and will be until quite late - although the nights do technically start drawing-in from tomorrow], which makes everything - even being in the office, just looking out of the window - feel better.
Here's a rather different take on an appropriate number for the day for your delectation, dear reader:
Enjoy it while it lasts!
Beautiful daylilies. Complex lyrics (not).
ReplyDeleteWe're very happy the daylilies have put on such a great show this year - last year they had some kind of disease and the buds kept dropping off or gnarling up before they opened, which was very disappointing.
DeleteIn common with much dance music, there;s not much in the way of lyrics... Jx
I have seen some sun today, from tomorrow I will be counting down to Christmas.

Aaaaaaargh! Ruin the mood, why don't you? Jx
DeleteI bet the slugs like them too. Thought provoking and profound lyrics, Milk and Sugar vs Vaya con Dios Hey Na Na Na is another.
ReplyDeleteActually Hemerocallis are among the list of coveted "slug-proof plants", along with hardy Geraniums, Fuchsias, Aquilegias, Campanula and Thalictrum (and that's just a few among the ones we grow)... Jx
DeleteMy comment seems to have disappeared! :( Anyway, lovely daylillies! I think I wrote something about the Summer Solstice, but I'm glad it's here! xxoo
ReplyDeleteOo-er. It never arrived (even in junk). Regardless, I agree - midsummer's a happy time! Jx
DeleteI always find myself envious of your daylilies. I checked on mine up at the allotment earlier and they have yet to be eaten by deer so maybe this will be the year for more than one flower?!
ReplyDeleteWe don't get many deer roaming North London. Jx
DeleteI love this time of year, even if it is some of the foggiest in San Francisco, but when it clears up, it's great.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely time of year - not yet too hot, everything's in bloom or starting to show signs, long evenings to enjoy... Bliss. Jx
DeleteLove our Hemerocallis and love that mix
ReplyDeleteBoth are perfect for Midsummer's Day,
"Crimson Pirate" [aarrr!] has done us proud this year. Glad you liked this mix - I think it works. Jx
